Thu Dec 11 08:51:28 PST 2003 More secure grade posting

Thank you for your replies to my survey. It seems that most people understood and could use the persoanl password/keyword technique. It clearly protects people from identity theft.

A number of people also pointed out something that had been bothering me: you can figure out the grades of some people because they earned bonusses or were absent in a particular class. Yesterday evening I had the time to translate the old CGI script into a PHP page. From now on, you must supply your keyword (first three letters) and will only be able to see those grades (plus notes, heading and such).

Try [ http://www.csci.csusb.edu/dick/cs488/grading/ ] and let me know if there are any problems.

If you find a security hole let me know!

If you want to see the code send me EMail with CS488search.php in the subject.
